Meet Grace Cunningham

Grace Cunningham
(Retail Operations Manager)

What’s your current role at Certa?

I work as the Retail Operations Manager for Certa’s pay@pump network.

What does a typical day look like for you?

I try split my week in two halves – one half in the office and the other half on the road. We’ve almost 40 sites throughout the country and I’m responsible for sales, operations, safety and innovation across our retail footprint. Even though our sites are unmanned there are always lots of customers you can strike up a conversation with, to understand how they find the service, and what enhancements we can make to improve it.

What did you do before joining the business?

I studied Commerce in UCD and then went on to do a Masters in Marketing in Michael Smurfit Business School. After this I completed a two year Graduate Programme with Certa’s parent company DCC PLC I remained with DCC, working in the UK for almost 8 years. I came back to Ireland in 2021.

What attracted you to the job?

Despite the large scale operation of the business, DCC oozes entrepreneurial spirit, and this is something I think is rare in similar size businesses.

How long are you with Certa?

I joined Certa in Jan 2021

What do you like best about your role and the company?

The variety of the day to day and the ability to have a real impact on how the business is run.

Once word to describe working here

Collaborative.

What do you like to do in your free time?

Whilst being locked down in Wales, I started to explore the huge selection of valleys and beaches which surrounded me. Since moving home I’ve continued this and tried to ticked off as many trails and peaks as possible in Ireland.
